Cheers To Charity: Negro Leagues Baseball Museum Is February Recipient

Dugout Mugs is proud to announce the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is our February Cheers To Charity recipient! The NLBM, based in Kansas City, Missouri, is a place “where history touches home.”

In addition to our initial $1,000 donation, Dugout Mugs is donating $10 per Commemorative NLBM Dugout Mug sold during the month of February!

The 10,000 square foot museum is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history of African-American baseball and its impact on the social advancement of America and has welcomed over two million visitors since opening its doors in 1997.

“We are really excited to team up with the NLBM because what they're doing is crucial to the preservation of the game,” said Dugout Mugs CEO Kris Dehnert. “Bob, and his whole team at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, understand the importance of telling the stories of the people that helped create the history of baseball.”

This month, the Museum kicked off Negro Leagues 101, which coincides with the league's 101st anniversary. The national initiative is designed to educate the public including a series of women pioneers who played an integral part in the league, and a "Hall of Game" ceremony which includes former MLB players who displayed the same passion as those in the Negro Leagues.

“We’re thrilled to have the support of Dugout Mugs and are excited to have the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum as part of their beautiful lineup of custom products,” said Bob Kendrick, NLBM President.

“In addition to having them be the recipient of our cheers to charity award in February, we look forward to a long relationship with them creating unique Dugout Mugs which celebrate heroes of the Negro Leagues,” Dehnert added.

Our #CheersToCharity initiative has helped numerous foundations and organizations in our baseball community including the David Ortiz Children’s Fund, Mariano Rivera Foundation, Pujols Family Foundation, and many others.

Last fall, we launched a special edition Dugout Mug to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Negro Leagues.
